Terres en vues honore la mémoire d’Oscar Catacora
C’est avec beaucoup de tristesse que nous apprenons le décès du cinéaste aymara Oscar Catacora, réalisateur du premier long-métrage en langue aymara, Wiñaypacha.

Le film avait été primé au festival international Présence autochtone 2018, méritant le grand prix Teueikan. Wiñaypacha avait, cette année-là, représenté le Pérou pour l’obtention de l’Oscar du meilleur film étranger.
Terres en vues, au nom de toute l’équipe du festival, offre ses condoléances aux proches et à la famille du défunt; et aussi à la nation aymara et à la communauté cinématographique péruvienne qui ont subitement perdu un compatriote, un camarade et un artiste majeur dont le talent annonçait à une longue et brillante carrière.

Es con gran tristeza que nos enteramos del fallecimiento del cineasta aymara Oscar Catacora, director del primer largometraje en idioma aymara, Wiñaypacha. La película fue galardonada con el Gran Premio Teueikan en el Festival International Présence autochtone 2018. Ese año, Wiñaypacha fue seleccionada por Perú para el Oscar a la mejor película extranjera.
De parte de todo el equipo del festival, ofrecemos nuestras condolencias a la familia y a los amigos del fallecido, así como a la nación aymara y a la comunidad cinematográfica peruana, que han perdido repentinamente a un compatriota, a un camarada y a un gran artista cuyo talento anunciaba una larga y brillante carrera.

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Aymara filmmaker Oscar Catacora, director of the first feature film in the Aymara language, Wiñaypacha. The film had been awarded at the 2018 Montreal International First Peoples Festival, earning the Teueikan Grand Prize. That year, Wiñaypacha represented Peru for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
Terres en vues/Land InSights, on behalf of the entire festival team, offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and also to the Aymara Nation and the Peruvian film community, who have suddenly lost a compatriot, a comrade and a major artist whose talent heralded a long and brilliant career.
